....how I got started with sports analytics....
I was sitting in a Vegas sportsbook watching an LSU-FSU game when I started talking to a guy who'd been sitting there as long as I had. After a while I realized that he was walking back and forth to the counter placing bets based on what I said.
He won big! Asked me to go to dinner with him and offered me a job as his personal sports betting advisor. Why did I tell you this? Because it's not always obvious to us when our knowledge has real money value. What I was doing, prospecting NCAAF outcomes in real time based on real human performance factors (with one proprietary caveat I'll share with you) was natural to me. I put two and two together, factoring in rule #1 about business - follow the money and transitioned into sports analytics. I rebranded myself based on what others want me to deliver, business rule #2 (deliver what they are buying) and developed the ESA MethodTM for everyone to use. So, here we are. Let's have fun!
