....how I got started with qualitative sports analytics....
I was sitting in a Vegas sportsbook watching an LSU-FSU game when I started talking to a guy about the game. After a while I realized that he was walking to the counter placing bets based on what I said.
He won big! Asked me to go to dinner with him and offered me a job as his personal advisor. Why did I tell you this? Because it's not always obvious to us when our knowledge has real money value. What I was doing, prospecting NCAAF outcomes in real time based on real human performance factors (with proprietary caveats I'll share with you) was natural to me. The technical term is biomechanics qualitative analysis.
I put two and two together, factoring in rule #1 about business - follow the money and transitioned into sports analytics. I rebranded myself based on what others want me to deliver, business rule #2 (deliver what they are buying) and developed the ESA MethodTM for everyone to use. So, here we are. Let's have fun!
